Koxswain Lab is a consulting service for coxswains, fueled from my roots in coxing and my passion for the sport of rowing.
Alongside my High School rowing team, Connecticut Boat Club I have been able to achieve a consulting role with both varsity and novice coxswains. Over the course of the last 4 years I have had the honor of working closely with 15 coxswains. Every coxswain has been unique and that has fueled me to launch this official lab.
In our sport, the focus is always on the rowers. By default, the coxswains are expected to ‘know’ or ‘be close to perfect’ and ultimately never truly have the chance to be vulnerable without it meaning that their seat is now in jeopardy.
Koxswain Lab is a safe space, coxswain to coxswain talk. My desire is for you to grow, be curious, achieve a new level of confidence, and attain your goal within this sport.

Oh how I wish I had a program like this offered to me back in my full time coxing years! I have always been blessed with amazing coaches throughout every aspect of my career, however being a coxswain is different than being a rower.
Being coached specifically to the role of a coxswain is simply put, different. Coxswains are a unique breed and should be coached as such.
Sure, all coxswains can self learn and play a bit of ‘monkey see, monkey do’ but why should that be the standard in our sport?
Koxswain Lab focuses on tailoring approaches to the benefit of the individual coxswain. Working together on the individuals motives and pain points is only just scratching the surface of the partnership. If the coxswain choses, the partnership will establish strong roots and from there build a one of a kind bond.

Did your family friend say you were small and had a loud voice so you should try coxing? same here. Did you start coxing and realize wait this so fun and I love being on the water? sounds familiar. Welcome to the best sport in the world full of never ending learning opportunities and unforgettable experiences. I would love to meet you and help you have the best rookie year possible.
Juniors edition
Are you competitive? me too. Are you a boat mover or a boat member? I would love to find out. Incase you don’t know the power of the coxswain is beyond imaginable. As a good coxswain you can steer well and keep the crew safe. But as a great coxswain you can be all of that plus be the spirit of the boat, read the rowers minds just by seeing their blade work, pivot from the script without getting frazzled, and be 60% of the reason you won the race. I would love to meet you and partner to cross the finish line together…well you can win, just please don’t call bow ball on me!
collegiate Edition
We need our mentors to understand us and have walked in the same path as us to fully understand what we are going through. I’m not saying I know it all but I will share that I know what it’s like to be undefeated, to lose every race for an entire season, to wake up at 6am in 14 degree weather, to manage academics/boyfriend/athletics/friends at the same time, to grow up with divorced parents, to be self taught and to be bullied. Now, these are the harsher things I have lived in my life. I can also relate to unconditional love, incredible friendships, worldly travels, living out my dreams etc. I would love to meet and partner with you as a collegiate coxswain because the college era is special and I lived mine to the max, and so should you!
